Connect Foodini to WiFi

Connect when you are logged in to Foodini Creator

From the home screen, tap the menu (  ) on the top left hand side, then the WiFi icon (  ) on the top. You'll see a Network Info screen, like this:


Select settings. Select your WiFi network and enter the password. To return to Foodini Creator, select Home (  ).

If you are on a network that doesn't allow you to directly select the WiFi, select web portal and enter the URL of your portal.

Is WiFi needed to operate Foodini?

You do not need WiFi to operate Foodini, but you do need WiFi for certain functionality: for example, to update the software, to login with a Cloud Account and to access Foodini World. 

If Foodini is in a location with no WiFi, you can use a mobile phone to create a hotspot and download updates. Or you can temporarily move Foodini to a location that does have WiFi.


Connect when you are NOT logged into Foodini Creator

If you are not logged into Foodini Creator but you want to connect Foodini to Wifi, you can log in as you would with any Android device. That is, swipe down on the top right hand corner of the tablet. You may have to do this two or three times to get into the Wifi screen:



Troubleshooting

Check if Foodini is connected to the WiFi:

One way to do this: go to the menu (  ), Dish gallery and the refresh button () that you can see on the top right. If after a few seconds you see the message "Unable to download recipes", that means Foodini is not connected to the WiFi. If you don't see the pop up, you are connected.

Another way to do this: go to the menu (  ), Settings (), Software (  ), and tap "Internet Speed Test". If you get an error "Unable to connect to internet server", then you are not connect to the internet. 

If Foodini is not connecting to the WiFi and you are sure you are using a correct network and password, try the following: 
  1. Go to WiFi settings (see above), tap the WiFi network you want to connect to, click "forget".
  2. Put the tablet in airplane mode, wait 10 seconds, put it back on.
  3. Select the WiFi network you want to connect to and enter the password.
  4. It will show a "no internet" notification, but dismiss the notification.
  5. Now go to the Foodini software to install updates in this order:
    1. First install the backend,
    2. Then install the frontend,
    3. Then install any other available updates. 
Foodini will reload, and the WiFi should be connected.

If you are on a network that doesn't allow you to directly select the WiFi, select web portal and enter the URL of your portal.

Update Software

Foodini will alert you as to when there are updates available and will prompt you to update. We always recommend to update Foodini with the latest software. 

You can also manually check for updates: from the home screen, tap menu (  ), tap settings (), tap software (  ). If the Current version is different from the Update version, tap Update. (See this video on how to update the software.) If you get an error message saying unable to update, tap the button that says advance and write the code directly. 

If the Update column is empty, it means you are not connected to WiFi.
