Connect to Foodini from Another Device

Connect to Foodini from Another Device

You don't have to be in the kitchen standing over Foodini to make your print creations.... why not do so from the comfort of your sofa?!
You can connect to Foodini from another device  (laptop, computer, tablet, etc), but there are a few must-dos:
  1. Your device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as Foodini (important if you have more than one Wi-Fi network);
  2. You must be using Google Chrome or Firefox;
  3. Your Foodini must be turned on.
Make sure you are using http:// not https://

If you have one Foodini - Method 1

In your browser, type  foodini.local:8090
This may not work with Windows PCs. If it doesn't work, use method 2 below.

If you have more than one Foodini - Method 1

If you have more than one Foodini, you can use the the device ID name. Go to settings (from the home page menu) and look at the device ID:

For example, this Foodini has device ID: d58120… make note of the first two characters. In this example: d5.  In your browser, type:
foodini-d5.local:8090 (EXAMPLE ONLY... use the first two characters of your Foodini Device ID.)

If you have more than one Foodini OR if you have one Foodini - Method 2

From the home screen, tap menu (   ), then tap WiFi (   ):

You'll see a screen with Network Info. Make note of the IP address:

Open a browser and type the IP address followed by  :8090
In this example, you would type:
192.168.1.14:8090   (EXAMPLE ONLY... use your IP Address.)

Use the Foodini internal camera from another device

You can see what's happening inside Foodini using the internal camera.  You can do this on the Foodini screen by using the camera icon on the Print Status screen, or from another device - perhaps broadcasting live printing to a smart TV in another area, for example.

To access the internal camera from another device, follow the instructions as above and add /camera.html
In the examples above, you would type one of these:
  1. Using method 1 with one Foodini: foodini.local:8090/camera.html
  2. Using method 1 with more than one Foodini: foodini-<first two characters of your Foodini>.local:8090/camera.html
  3. Using method 2: IP Address:8090/camera.html

You will then see this screen with the following menu on top:

  1. Start: Turn the camera on
  2. Stop: Turn the camera off
  3. Snapshot: Takes a photo
  4. Start Record: Start recording a video, button will toggle to Stop Record: Stop recording the video. The video is a .webm file, which can be played back in Google Chrome.
The video recording feature is only meant for short videos, under one minute.
